1. Purpose and applicability
This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") describes the conduct and content standards that apply to all use of the StorageFlo platform ("Service"). It forms part of the agreement between the Customer and South Star Holdings LLC and supplements the Terms of Service.
This AUP applies to Customers (entities or individuals who subscribe), Authorized Users (employees, contractors, or agents granted access), and Tenants (end-users who interact with the booking widget). Customers are responsible for ensuring that their Authorized Users and, where applicable, their tenants comply with this AUP.
StorageFlo may update this AUP from time to time. Material changes will be communicated in advance. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
2. Prohibited uses
The following uses are prohibited under all circumstances regardless of your jurisdiction, plan tier, or intended purpose.
Illegal content and activity. You may not use the Service to store, transmit, distribute, or facilitate access to content or activity that violates applicable law. This includes but is not limited to: fraud, money laundering, extortion, bribery, and any activity that would constitute a criminal offence in the jurisdiction where the activity occurs or where it causes harm.
Child sexual abuse material (CSAM). You may not use the Service to generate, store, distribute, or facilitate access to any content that sexually exploits or depicts minors. Violations of this prohibition will be reported to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) or the relevant authority and to law enforcement, and will result in immediate account termination.
Terrorism and extremist content. You may not use the Service to promote, plan, finance, or facilitate acts of terrorism, mass violence, or violent extremism, or to recruit for, or provide material support to, any organization designated as a terrorist group by any applicable governmental authority.
Hate speech, threats, harassment, and doxxing. You may not use the Service to publish or transmit content that: incites hatred or violence against individuals or groups based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or similar protected characteristics; threatens harm to any individual; constitutes harassment or stalking; or discloses private personal information about another person without their consent (doxxing).
Intellectual property and privacy violations. You may not use the Service to infringe any intellectual property right of a third party, or to violate any person's privacy rights, including by unlawfully collecting, disclosing, or distributing personal information about others.
3. Storage-industry-specific restrictions
The following restrictions apply specifically to the storage facility management context in which StorageFlo operates.
Misrepresentation of unit availability. You may not use the Service to display false, misleading, or deliberately inaccurate unit availability information to prospective tenants. All availability data presented through the booking widget must reflect the actual state of your inventory at the time of display.
Fraud, identity theft, and rental scams. You may not use StorageFlo to facilitate fraud, identity theft, phishing, or rental scams of any kind. This includes creating fictitious listings, impersonating legitimate operators, or soliciting payment from prospective tenants under false pretences.
Unlawful storage. You may not use the Service to manage, advertise, or facilitate the rental of units that you know or have reasonable grounds to suspect are being used to store:
- Controlled substances or illegal narcotics beyond the limits permitted by applicable local law.
- Firearms, ammunition, or weapons in violation of applicable law.
- Hazardous, toxic, flammable, or radioactive materials in quantities or conditions that exceed the limits permitted by applicable local law or that create a risk of harm to persons or property.
- Stolen property or goods obtained through unlawful means.
Operator compliance responsibility. Each Customer is solely responsible for ensuring that its facility, tenancy agreements, rental practices, and use of StorageFlo comply with all applicable storage, tenancy, lien, and consumer protection laws in every jurisdiction where it operates. StorageFlo provides a technology platform and does not provide legal advice.
4. Payment misuse
You may not use the Service's payment features to process transactions that:
- Are fictitious, test, or fabricated outside of designated sandbox environments.
- Relate to goods or services that are illegal in the applicable jurisdiction.
- Constitute money laundering, structuring, or any other attempt to circumvent anti-money-laundering (AML) or know-your-customer (KYC) requirements.
- Involve chargeback fraud or friendly fraud, including knowingly initiating or facilitating chargebacks for legitimate transactions.
Payment gateway features are subject to the terms of the applicable processor (Stripe or Square). Customers must comply with those terms in addition to this AUP. Violations may result in independent action by the processor outside of any action StorageFlo takes.
5. Integration and branding misuse
Trademark and endorsement restrictions. You may not represent, whether expressly or by implication, that StorageFlo speaks for, is officially partnered with, is affiliated with, or is endorsed by SiteLink, storEDGE, Yardi Breeze, Stripe, Square, or any other integration partner, vendor, or third-party system.
Descriptive, truthful use of third-party trademarks is acceptable where it accurately describes an existing integration. Stating "our booking system works with SiteLink" is acceptable. Stating "official SiteLink partner" is not, unless you have written authorization from the trademark owner.
StorageFlo branding. Authorized resellers and partners must follow StorageFlo's brand guidelines. Unauthorized use of StorageFlo's name, logo, or brand assets is prohibited.
Competitive intelligence. You may not use the Service to gather competitive intelligence about StorageFlo's platform, pricing, or customers for the benefit of a competing product or service.
6. Technical abuse
Scraping and automated data extraction. You may not use automated scripts, bots, crawlers, or similar tools to extract data from the Service, other than through the official StorageFlo API using a valid API key and in accordance with the API rate limits and terms applicable to your plan.
Reverse engineering. You may not decompile, disassemble, reverse engineer, or otherwise attempt to derive the source code, algorithms, or architecture of the Service or any component of it.
Denial of service. You may not launch, facilitate, or participate in any attack designed to overwhelm or degrade the Service, including distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks, volumetric floods, or any similar disruption.
Rate-limit circumvention. You may not attempt to circumvent, bypass, or defeat the API rate limits, connection limits, or request thresholds imposed by StorageFlo, including by rotating credentials, IP addresses, or accounts.
Security testing. You may not conduct penetration testing, vulnerability scanning, or any other security assessment of the Service or its infrastructure without prior written authorization from StorageFlo. To request authorization, email [email protected] before beginning any testing activity. Unauthorized security testing may trigger automated incident response measures and may result in account suspension.
7. Account and credential misuse
Account sharing. You may not share credentials with individuals outside your organization, sell account access, or use your account to provide Service access to unrelated third parties.
Account farming. You may not create multiple accounts to circumvent plan limits, usage quotas, or enforcement actions.
Impersonation. You may not impersonate another person, business, or entity, or misrepresent your identity or authority in connection with the Service.
Credential theft. You may not attempt to obtain another user's credentials by any means, including phishing, social engineering, or exploiting security vulnerabilities.
8. Spam and communications
When using StorageFlo's communications features (including email and SMS) to contact tenants or prospective tenants, Customers must comply with all applicable anti-spam and electronic communications laws, including:
- CAN-SPAM Act (United States). All commercial email must include a valid physical postal address, an accurate subject line, a clear identification of the message as a commercial communication where required, and a functioning opt-out mechanism that is honored within 10 business days.
- CASL (Canada). You must have express or implied consent before sending any commercial electronic message to a recipient in Canada. Messages must identify the sender, include contact information, and provide an unsubscribe mechanism.
- GDPR and UK GDPR (EEA and UK). Marketing communications to individuals in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom require a valid lawful basis, which will typically be freely given, specific, informed, and unambiguous consent. Consent records must be maintained and must be producible on request.
- Australian Spam Act 2003. You must have express or inferred consent before sending commercial messages to Australian recipients. Messages must include a functional unsubscribe facility.
Sending unsolicited bulk communications (spam), using harvested or purchased contact lists, or misrepresenting the sender identity in communications sent through the Service is prohibited in all jurisdictions.
9. Reporting violations
If you become aware of a violation of this AUP, please report it to us at [email protected]. Include as much detail as possible: the nature of the alleged violation, the account or URL involved (if known), and any supporting evidence.
Reports are treated in confidence to the extent permitted by law. We review every credible report. Security vulnerability reports should go to [email protected].
10. Enforcement
StorageFlo reserves the right to take action in response to any violation of this AUP. The range of available enforcement actions includes:
- Warning. For less severe or first-time violations, we may issue a warning and ask the Customer to remedy the conduct within a specified period.
- Content removal. We may remove or disable access to content that violates this AUP without prior notice where the content poses an ongoing risk of harm.
- Suspension. We may suspend access to the Service, in whole or in part, pending investigation of a suspected violation or while remediation is in progress.
- Termination. We may terminate the Customer's account and all associated Subscriptions for serious, repeated, or unresolved violations of this AUP.
- Account deletion. Following termination, we may delete the account and all associated data in accordance with our data retention practices described in the Privacy Policy and DPA.
We will generally escalate through this range based on the severity and recurrence of the conduct. However, we have no obligation to provide a warning or opportunity to cure where:
- The conduct is illegal or involves content that is illegal per se (such as CSAM).
- The conduct causes or is likely to cause immediate harm to StorageFlo, other Customers, or third parties.
- The conduct constitutes a material, wilful breach of this AUP or the Terms of Service.
StorageFlo may cooperate with law enforcement as required by applicable law, court order, or government request. Enforcement decisions are made at StorageFlo's reasonable discretion. If you believe an enforcement action was taken in error, contact us at [email protected].
