Once your storage platform is connected, StorageFlo imports your locations automatically. This guide covers how to review and activate those locations, keep your unit inventory in sync, and add the photos and descriptions that turn a listing into a booking.
Activate a location
- Acme Storage Downtown412 Main St, Portland OR147 unitsActive
- Acme Storage Eastside8821 Burnside, Portland OR203 unitsActive
- Acme Storage North1450 N Lombard, Portland OR98 unitsInactive
After you connect SiteLink, your locations appear in Workspace → Locations with their names, addresses, and unit counts already populated. Each location has a toggle that controls whether it is active or inactive.
An active location is visible in the booking widget and open for online reservations. An inactive location is hidden from renters but still stored in your workspace. You can activate and deactivate locations at any time without losing any data.
To activate a location, go to Workspace → Locations, find the facility card, and flip the toggle to Active. The change takes effect immediately.
One thing to be aware of before you activate: if the number of active locations exceeds the allowance on your current tier, StorageFlo will prompt you to upgrade your plan. Current limits and pricing for each tier are on the pricing page. Deactivating a location that puts you back within your tier's limit reverts any pending upgrade prompt.
Sync your unit inventory
Your unit inventory syncs automatically from your connected storage platform. You do not need to trigger anything manually for routine updates. When you change a unit price, add new inventory, or mark a unit as occupied in SiteLink, StorageFlo is designed to pick up that change through the sync path instead of asking you to enter the same data twice.
The unit count shown on each location card in Workspace → Locations reflects the latest synced state of your SiteLink data. If a unit is missing from the list or showing the wrong size or type, the place to fix it is SiteLink. Edits made there flow into StorageFlo on the next sync cycle.
If something looks stale, open the location card and click Sync now to trigger a manual refresh. You can also use this after a bulk change in SiteLink, such as adding an entire new unit block, when you want to refresh the booking data before the next automatic cycle.
Upload unit photos
Good photos are one of the biggest levers you have on booking conversion. This is where you add them.
- Open Workspace → Unit content
Go to Workspace → Unit content in the left sidebar. You will see a list of your locations. Expand a location to see its unit types.
- Pick a unit type
Click on the unit type you want to update, such as "5x10 Standard" or "10x20 Climate Controlled." Each unit type has its own content record with a photo gallery, description, and feature tags.
- Drag and drop photos
Drag photos from your computer onto the upload area, or click Choose files to browse. StorageFlo accepts JPEG and PNG files. Keep each photo under 5 MB. A 16:9 aspect ratio gives the best result in the booking widget, where photos display in a fixed-ratio gallery. The upload processes immediately and you can see a preview before you save.
- Add a description and feature tags
Write a short description in the text field below the gallery. Then pick any feature tags that apply to this unit type: climate-controlled, drive-up, 24-hour access, security cameras, elevator access, and others. Feature tags appear as badges on the unit listing and help renters filter by what matters to them. Click Save when you're done.
Reorder photos and content
The photo order in your gallery controls what renters see first. The first photo in the list is the hero image shown on the booking widget's unit listing card. Make sure your strongest photo is in that position.
To reorder, drag the photos within the gallery into the order you want. You can also click the Set as hero button on any photo to move it to the front without rearranging the rest. Changes publish instantly to your live unit listings. There is no separate publish step.
The same drag-reorder applies to unit types within a location if you want to control which unit types appear at the top of the widget's availability list.
Build a facility floor plan
The floor plan builder lets you create an interactive map of your facility so renters can pick an exact unit rather than just a unit type. Facilities that use the floor plan typically see a lift of 8 to 12 percent in booking conversion compared to the unit-type-only view.
To get started, open Workspace → Unit content, select a location, and click Floor plan in the tab bar. The builder is drag-and-drop. You draw walls and corridors, then place unit blocks and tag each block with the corresponding unit type from your SiteLink inventory. Multi-floor facilities are supported. Use the Add floor button to create additional levels, then work through each floor in sequence.
When you are done, click Publish floor plan. The interactive map goes live in the booking widget immediately. Renters selecting a unit type will see the map and can click individual units to check availability and pricing before booking.
You can update the floor plan at any time without taking the widget offline. Unpublished drafts are saved automatically as you work.
Tips for high-converting unit listings
Strong unit content is one of the few things you control directly that affects whether a renter completes a booking or bounces. These practices make a measurable difference.
Lead with a real photo, not stock photography. Renters are trusting you with their belongings. A photo of your actual facility, taken on a bright day at unit-door height, builds that trust faster than any stock image. A real photo of a clean, well-lit unit outperforms a polished stock shot in most A/B tests.
Shoot in 16:9. The booking widget crops photos to a 16:9 ratio for the gallery. If your photos are portrait orientation or an unusual aspect ratio, they will be center-cropped and important parts of the image may be cut off. Take photos in landscape mode.
Write descriptions in the 80 to 150 word range. Lead with the strongest feature. If it is a climate-controlled unit, say that in the first sentence. Keep the language plain and specific. Avoid filler phrases like "perfect for all your storage needs." Tell the renter what fits: a one-bedroom apartment, a full set of patio furniture, a road bike.
Use feature tags for scannable information. Renters often filter or scan tags before reading the description. If the unit is drive-up accessible, tag it. If it has 24-hour access, tag it. Concrete, factual tags convert better than marketing adjectives in the description.
Keep your hero photo sharp. The hero image is what the renter sees before they decide to click. Blurry, dark, or cluttered photos are the single most common reason a unit listing gets skipped. If you can only take one great photo, make it the hero.
Once your unit content is polished and your locations are active, the next step is getting the booking widget in front of your renters. Head to Embed the booking widget to continue.
